Samsung closely cooperates with Pentax and their DSLRs are very similar although not identical. They use the Pentax-K mount for lenses. As of today (Jul 2007) Samsung sells the following DSLR models : GX-1S, GX-1L, GX-10. Besides DSLRs some other digital cameras by Samsung also are capable of storing images in raw format.

File format

Early Samsung cameras used the Pentax raw format PEF to store raw files. The GX-10 DSLR supports only the DNG format while Pentax K-10 supports both PEF and DNG. It seems that Samsung is going to use DNG in their future products as the basic RAW file format. Some of their non-DSLR digital cameras also use the DNG format for storing raw images.

The DNG format is based on TIFF and most usual image viewers will show the small 160x120 preview if you ask to open a DNG file.
